2005 Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

To end the summer season, and the weekly Frisbee games, we decided to hold a Tournament between 3 balanced teams and find a winner.  The format was cut-throat style, meaning that two teams would play while a third would sit out.  After each score, the team scored on would switch out with the team sitting out.  This format worked very well, having us complete the tournament before it got dark, while making sure everybody played pretty frequently.

To start things off lets introduce the teams!!!

Wearing blue: Team Couples...Ross and Sara, Jeff and Jen, Chris and Derek, and Johnny 1

In the Yellow Pennies:  Team Too Tall
.  Tim, Mark, Jeff, Nick, Jen, Wes, Johnny 2

And with no colors:  Team No Pennies.  Blake, Scott, Craig, Jeremy, Chris, Julia, Amanda

1st Half
The first 1/2 was played till the first team made 10 points.  It was here that "Too Tall" dominated getting a good 4 point lead over number 2, "No Pennies".  At the 1/2 the score was 10-6-4, with "Too Tall" leading and "Couples" holding up last place.

2nd Half
Things changed in the 2nd 1/2, as  "No Pennies" fought their way to tie and eventually surpass "Too Tall", and "Couples" made a ate game resurgence to stay in it.  After a winning score caught by Amanda, "No Pennies" wins it all and gets to do whatever wacky celebration dances they do!

Afterwards there was much rejoicing even for the other teams, as it was a good game and as we continued on to the awards ceremony where many prizes were to be had!!

Of course the first place awards!!!

Isn't it pretty?  Thank Amanda for the wonderful work!

Of course she also was the "Dirtiest Player" with some cheap moves :)

Jen walked away with the "Best TD" with an amazing catch!!

Rudy for Johnny 1, for having the "Most Heart"

Really, getting the MVP Silver Frisbee and Tiara DIDNT go to Scott's head ;)

Ross and Sara shared the Nicest Player awards....I mean they really are nice (for texans that is)

I mean doesnt Sara go well with those puppies?

Jermy "Godzilla" Gustafson walked away with sweatiest player, barely beating out Tim among others

And speaking of Tim...mind you that is HIS shirt, not some silly award, if you recall LAST years tournament... :)

Of course the group shot...minus Julia who offered to do it!

A 1/2 hearted silly picture....

...which led to this more deserving one!!

It was a good fun tournament, and we hope next year it’s even better!!  See you summer 2006!!!
